Chris has a co-star (and most likely a love interest)! “The Tudors”‘ Natalie Dormer has just signed on to play the female lead opposite Chris’s crime-solving Edgar Allan Poe.
The Tudors alumna Natalie Dormer is set as the female lead opposite Chris Egan in ABC’s drama pilot Poe. The project, from Warner Bros. TV and Lin Pictures, is a crime procedural following Edgar Allan Poe (Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston. Dormer, repped by ICM and U.K.’s United Agents, will play Celeste, a beautiful spitfire, with a firm moral center – the logical yin to Poe’s wildly theoretical yang. She owns the newspaper for which Poe writes, having inherited it from her fiancé who died in mysterious circumstances.
Ahh, finally some news on Chris!! He’s headed back to television and will be playing one of my personal favorite authors, Edgar Allan Poe!! The show is called “Poe” and is set in the 19th Century. Hope it gets picked up, it’s been way too long since we’ve seen Chris!
‘Kings’ Star Christopher Egan Lands Lead in ABC’s ‘Poe’
Australian actor Christopher Egan has been tapped as the lead in ABC pilot Poe.
The crime procedural, from Warner Bros. TV and Dan Lin’s Lin Pictures, centers on the world’s first detective, Edgar Allan Poe, who uses unconventional means to uncover mysteries. The series is set in Boston during the 1840s.
Egan, whose previous TV credits include Kings, Vanished and Everwood, will play the part of Poe.
He joins Kevin McNally, Tabrett Bethelland Leslie Odom Jr, who are already locked into supporting roles.
Chris Hollier (Alias, Kyle XY) will write and executive produce the pilot, with Lin (The Departed, Sherlock Holmes) and Brad Kern (Human Target, Charmed) joining him as executive producers. Alex Graves (Terra Nova, Fringe) is on board to direct.
Egan is repped by CAA.
Chris mentioned this role as a possibility a couple of times over the summer while promoting “Letters to Juliet”, but now it appears to be official! He will join Josh Hartnett and Chris Pine in Roland Joffe’s new film “Singularity”. The other two actors will presumably play the British officer and the officer’s brother so perhaps Chris will be playing the American marine biologist? More info as we get it!
While promoting his new release BUNRAKU, Josh Hartnett told Tribute.ca in a video interview that he will be heading soon to India to shoot acclaimed French director Roland Joffe next project SINGULARITY. Hartnett will star as British captain James Stewart alongside Indian star Aishwarya Rai. Chris Pine is also said to be onboard to play the brother of Josh Hartnett’s character. Paul Breuls’ Belgian production, sales and financing entity Corsan is producing.
The film is an epic romance centred around four characters — a British officer in colonial India, the Indian woman he falls in love with, an American marine biologist and his lover, who is a researcher trapped in a wrecked British merchant ship.
The role Chris was supposed to be testing with Tom Cruise for has been awarded to Jeremy Renner, and Chris’s screen test has been canceled, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Paramount Pictures has chosen Jeremy Renner to infuse new blood in its Mission: Impossible franchise. Renner, the Oscar-nominated star of The Hurt Locker, will star alongside Tom Cruise in the fourth installment of a franchise that will begin production in the fall. Brad Bird is directing and Cruise is producing with JJ Abrams.
The studio planned to test a group of young actors later this week… but it was clear that Paramount wasn’t sure what it was going to do. Those tests have been canceled.
Sucks. But the fact that the studio had Chris in mind for such a huge role is a great sign, hopefully they will have something else in store for him soon!
Finally some news, and it would be huge if it worked out! Chris is in contention for a possible role in the highly anticipated next installment of the “Mission Impossible” franchise starring Tom Cruise. The Wrap reports he, Anthony Mackie and Kevin Zegers are all being considered, though it’s not clear if it’s for the same role or different ones. Deadline Hollywood also reports the 3 of them will be testing with Tom Cruise on Thursday and Friday.
Anthony Mackie, Kevin Zegers and Chris Egan are all being eyed for roles in Brad Bird’s highly-anticipated sequel, individuals familiar with the casting process have told Deal Central. For its part, Paramount has denied to TheWrap that the trio are in contention to join the cast.
It’s unclear whether the actors are in competition with one another, or whether there are several parts to be cast, but TheWrap has learned that they’ve auditioned to be new additions to the “M:I” team, and have already screen tested or will do so shortly.
This week, Paramount Pictures and director Brad Bird will begin testing actors to star alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible 4. I’m told that three of the actors who’ll test with Cruise on Thursday and Friday are Vampire’s Keven Zegers, Kings star Christopher Egan, and Anthony Mackie, who starred in the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker. Cruise is producing the film with JJ Abrams, and Paramount Pictures is co-financing with David Ellison’s Skydance.

Chris is featured with some of his fellow rising actors in Hollywood modeling new K-Swiss Vintage shoes in the new issue of Details magazine. Below are the HQ scan (thanks very much to Jerilee), the textless shoot image, some behind the scenes stills and captures of the behind the scenes video. Enjoy!
Better late than never – here are the captures for the last four episodes of “Kings.” Definitely canceled prematurely, but what a fantastic show it was!
The movie also did very well in its 2nd week at the box office:
Letters to Juliet had the best hold of the weekend among the top 10. The Amanda Seyfried-starring, Tuscan-set romance dropped only 33 percent its second weekend for an additional $9 million. The film, well-liked by audiences, has now earned $27.4 million.
Made a complete gallery update on Chris’s 2009 movie “Crush”, with caps of the movie, stills and promotional images. The movie is now available on DVD in Australia and on demand in the US.
